News Desk
Islamabad: The Meteorological Department has forecast that the first 10 days of Ramadan will be colder than usual, with rainfall expected in various parts of the country.
According to the latest weather update, temperatures are likely to remain below normal levels during the early days of the holy month.
The department has also indicated the possibility of both heavy and light rain on Monday and Tuesday, further contributing to the cool conditions.
Islamabad and several other regions are expected to experience lower-than-average temperatures, making the start of Ramadan unusually cold.
Meanwhile, various parts of the country, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, experienced intermittent rain for the third consecutive day on Friday. The highest recorded rainfall in the capital was 8mm in Saidpur.
The Meteorological Department has indicated that the rain spell will continue until March 1. The ongoing wet weather has disrupted the Pakistan vs Bangladesh match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, causing interruptions in play.
A strong westerly wave has triggered heavy rain and snowfall across northern Pakistan, leading to road closures and hazardous travel conditions. The department has issued a warning for several areas, including Murree, Galliyat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli, where heavy precipitation may cause slippery roads and landslides.
Authorities have advised residents and travelers to exercise caution, particularly in hilly regions, due to the risk of road blockages and adverse weather conditions. Travelers are urged to check weather updates before planning journeys to affected areas.
