Islamabad: Pakistani superstar Mehwish Hayat is making headlines for all the wrong reasons as she finds herself at the center of a legal firestorm in the UK over her bold appearance in Indian rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh’s music video, “Jatt Mekhma.”

The high-octane video, released in November 2024 and filmed in the quiet town of Stratford-upon-Avon, has already clocked more than 40 million views on YouTube. But now, more than seven months later, it’s under fire for a scene that many viewers are calling “highly inappropriate.”

In the controversial final sequence, Mehwish is seen brandishing fake automatic weapons alongside four children, play-acting a violent firing scene. The footage quickly sparked outrage on social media and caught the attention of local UK authorities.

What started as viewer backlash has now escalated into a full-blown political storm, with a UK Member of Parliament stepping in and filing a formal complaint with the UK Home Office, demanding action.

“Showing children with imitation weapons engaging in violence is not only reckless—it may breach UK child protection laws,” the MP stated, calling the scene disturbing and potentially harmful. She has urged the government to issue exclusion orders against both Mehwish Hayat and Yo Yo Honey Singh, effectively banning them from entering the UK in the future.

British media reports suggest that the Home Office is “actively considering” the ban. Under UK law, such orders can be issued without a court hearing if someone’s presence is deemed against public interest.

While the UK Home Office has yet to release an official statement, the buzz has sent shockwaves through the entertainment world.

Mehwish Hayat has vehemently denied the allegations, calling the reports “baseless, fabricated, and sensationalized.” In a public statement, she blasted the rumors and urged media platforms to “report responsibly.”

“There has been no official notice, no complaint, and certainly no ban. This is pure fake news,” said Mehwish’s media manager Rohail, confirming that the British High Commission has not contacted her regarding the matter.

Meanwhile, Yo Yo Honey Singh has chosen to stay silent, fueling even more speculation.

As the controversy rages on, fans are left wondering—will this star-studded music video land Mehwish and Honey Singh in legal trouble? Or is this just another case of viral outrage gone too far?

Stay tuned the drama is far from over.
