New York: Daniil Medvedev secured a spot in the US Open quarter-finals, setting up a potential showdown with world number one Jannik Sinner. Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, outplayed Nuno Borges, winning 6-0, 6-1, 6-3. Sinner, who won his maiden Slam at the Australian Open this year, faced Tommy Paul in the night session on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
French Open champion and women’s world number one Iga Swiatek remained on course for her sixth Grand Slam title with a straight-sets win over Russia’s Liudmila Samsonova.
Jack Draper also advanced to the quarter-finals, becoming the first British man since Andy Murray in 2016 to reach this stage. Medvedev, Sinner, and other top players continue to battle as they aim for Grand Slam glory.
