Massive Fire Erupts at PWD Grocery Store in Rawalpindi

Islamabad: A massive fire broke out in the upper portion of the Pakistan Works Department (PWD) grocery store in Rawalpindi on Friday, causing panic and chaos in the area.

According to initial reports from Rescue 1122 officials, the blaze started around 11 o’clock and quickly spread, trapping an unspecified number of people inside the building, as reported by a private news channel.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of desperation as individuals attempted to escape the inferno, with flames and thick smoke billowing from the upper floors.

Rescue teams are racing against time to safely evacuate those trapped inside the grocery store. Reports indicate that rescue teams have successfully utilized the building’s lift to aid in the evacuation of individuals.

A spokesperson for Rescue 1122 stated that their teams are working tirelessly and remain hopeful of completing the evacuation soon, adding that firefighters and rescue personnel have gained access to the upper floors using the lift.
