Abbottabad: A massive fire broke out late Friday night at Ali Plaza in Mandian’s Landa Bazaar, Abbottabad, reducing dozens of shops and two nearby houses to ashes and causing losses worth millions of rupees. The incident has left the local trader community in shock and despair.

Eyewitnesses said despite repeated calls to emergency helplines Rescue 1122 and Police 15, no immediate response was received. Frustrated residents said they had to personally rush to inform the rescue staff. “We kept screaming for help, but no one came,” a distressed shopkeeper told reporters.

The blaze spread rapidly due to the presence of clothing, footwear, and household goods in the shops. Locals alleged that the delayed arrival of rescue teams allowed the flames to intensify, leading to greater destruction.

Rescue 1122 officials said the fire erupted for unknown reasons in several shops opposite Ali Plaza near Mandian Small Industries. Upon receiving the report, four fire vehicles and two ambulances were dispatched to the site. Due to the high intensity of the flames, additional firefighting teams were called in from Havelian, Cantt Board TMA, Haripur, and Mansehra.

Around 40 firefighters took part in the operation and managed to bring the fire under control after several hours of effort. The cooling process was still underway at the time of filing this report. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
