Mass Awareness About Wildlife Conservation & Protection Required: Sherry

Islamabad: Public awareness and stakeholder engagement are imperative to ensure wildlife conservation and protection, said Federal Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman.
In her message on World Wildlife Day, Senator Sherry stated that it is significant to create awareness among the populace and major stakeholders to ensure the survival of these valuable resources and assets for future generations.
She said that the aim of this day is to raise awareness of wildlife rights and conservation. Every human living on the planet has a responsibility to preserve the natural world, wild places, and wildlife.

The Minister emphasised that World Wildlife Day is significant for Pakistan as “rare snow leopards, Indus dolphins, deer, birds, and countless other species of wildlife can be found here.”
Rehman mentioned that wildlife in Pakistan is under threat as a result of numerous issues including rising population, building, poaching, illicit wildlife trafficking, and pollution. “We have taken numerous measures to safeguard our wildlife. They include the creation of protected areas and implementation of laws and regulations to prohibit unlawful hunting and trading in wildlife,” she added.
Minister Sherry further added that more needed to be done to protect species and their habitats.
