Maryam Nawaz’s Son Junaid Safdar Announces Second Marriage

Islamabad: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s son, Junaid Safdar, got engaged on Wednesday night in Lahore to the granddaughter of one of former three-time Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s first cousins, according to a report by 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Junaid Safdar’s fiancée is the daughter of Usman Javed and the granddaughter of Mian Javed Shafi, a first cousin and close associate of Nawaz Sharif.
Usman Javed, aged 48 and son of Javed Shafi, resides in Model Town. His grandfather, Mian Shafi, and Nawaz Sharif’s father, Mian Sharif, were biological brothers.
According to reports, both families, including Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Javed Shafi, gathered in Model Town on Wednesday to celebrate Junaid Safdar’s engagement. The Nikah ceremony is expected to be held within the coming weeks.
This will be Junaid Safdar’s second marriage. He was previously married to Ayesha Saif, daughter of Qatar-based industrialist Saifur Rahman Khan. The couple divorced in October 2023. Their first wedding took place in 2021 in London at The Lanesborough hotel in Knightsbridge. In October 2023, Junaid Safdar relocated from London to Pakistan full-time to support his mother.
A Cambridge graduate, Junaid holds two Master’s and two Bachelor’s degrees from UK universities. He earned a Master’s degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics (LSE) in 2020, and another Master’s in Global Governance and Ethics from University College London (UCL).
