Mardan Man Murders Ex-Wife Over Remarriage

Peshawar: A man shot dead his ex-wife and critically injured his mother-in-law in the Qudratabad area of Mardan district on Thursday.

According to police, the suspect, accompanied by an accomplice, entered the victim’s house and opened fire, killing his ex-wife on the spot and seriously injuring her mother, Gul Meena, wife of Atiq Ahmad.

The injured woman was shifted to THQ Hospital Ganjai for medical treatment, while the deceased’s body was sent for postmortem examination.

Police said the woman had remarried in Azad Kashmir a few months ago, which reportedly enraged her former husband and led to the fatal attack.

A case has been registered, and police have launched a search operation to arrest the suspects, identified as Shah Khalid and Shah Hussain.

An official told APP on Thursday that police teams from Tarnol, Noon, Khanna, Koral, Lohi Bher, Phulgran and Shahzad Town police stations arrested 10 accused and recovered 1,690 grams of hashish, 440 grams of ice, and three pistols with ammunition from their possession.

Cases have been registered against the arrested accused while further investigation is underway.

Additionally, during a special campaign to apprehend absconders and proclaimed offenders, three more criminals were also arrested.

SSP (Operations/Investigations) Muhammad Usman Butt stated that Islamabad Police are continuously working to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property in the federal capital.

No one will be allowed to disrupt the peace of the city, he said, adding that the safety and security of citizens remain the top priority of Islamabad Police.
