Islamabad: Popular showbiz personalities Mishi Khan and Alina Abbas have strongly criticized the portrayal of abusive romantic relationships and toxic masculinity in the currently trending drama serials Mast Malang and Behroopia.

In Mann Mast Malang, Danish Taimoor plays Kabir, an overbearing and abusive husband who subjects his wife, Sahar Hashmi (played by Riya), to disturbing acts—including tying her feet—while labeling his behavior as “love.” The drama has faced backlash not only for these abusive portrayals but also for its intimate and romantic scenes, which many viewers have found problematic.

Meanwhile, Behroopia features Faisal Qureshi as Mekayeel, a man suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder, who has nine distinct personalities. His mental health condition leads to his wife, Zara (played by Madiha Imam), enduring severe emotional and psychological torment.

In response to the growing controversy, several actors have publicly condemned these dramas for promoting dangerous ideas and unhealthy relationship dynamics.

Actress Ghana Ali shared a controversial scene from Mast Malang where Kabir threatens his lover’s father for attempting to arrange her marriage elsewhere. She commented sarcastically, “Thank you, that’s exactly the lesson we’re teaching. It’s high time we call this out.”

Mishi Khan also denounced Mast Malang, urging PEMRA to take action and issue a notice against the drama.

Actress Alina Abbas echoed similar concerns, expressing her disapproval of such content being aired under the guise of entertainment.
