Man Sentenced to Life for Rape, Blackmail in Wah Cantt

Wah Cantt: An Additional Sessions Court on Thursday sentenced a man to life imprisonment and imposed a fine for raping and blackmailing a woman, as well as extorting her gold ornaments and foreign currency within the jurisdiction of Wah Saddar Police Station.
According to the prosecution, the convict, Muhammad Ishtiaq, a resident of Khanewal, raped his cousin’s wife and coerced her into handing over valuables through blackmail.
On the woman’s husband’s complaint, police registered a case against the accused on May 24, 2024, under Sections 376, 386, and 411 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and subsequently arrested him.
After recording evidence and hearing final arguments from both the prosecution and defense, Additional Sessions Judge Basit Saleem ruled that the prosecution had successfully proven the charges. The court sentenced the convict to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 700,000.
