Man Released from Jail After 18 Years Shot Dead

Peshawar: A man who was recently released after serving 18 years in jail was shot dead by his rivals in the Mattani area of Peshawar, police reported on Monday.

The victim, 45-year-old Akhtar Ali, was killed by his rivals Hukam Sher and his son Momin while collecting firewood with his brother in Shaheedan Azakhel. Police said Akhtar Ali died on the spot after receiving multiple bullet wounds, though his brother was unharmed.

According to police, Akhtar had been imprisoned for 18 years for the murder of Hukam Sher’s son, Nur Dad Khan. Following Akhtar’s release from jail, the rivals sought revenge, leading to his murder.

Police have collected evidence from the crime scene and launched an investigation into the case.
