Man ‘Kills’ Stepmother, Injures Neighbour in Kallar Syedan

Rawalpindi: A man allegedly killed his stepmother and injured a neighbouring woman with an axe over a domestic dispute in the Kallar Syedan area, a Rawalpindi police spokesman said on Friday.
According to initial information, the suspect attacked his stepmother with repeated axe blows, killing her on the spot, and also injured a woman living nearby.
The Kallar Syedan police team rushed to the scene after receiving information and brought the situation under control.
City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani took notice of the incident and ordered the immediate arrest of the suspect.
The station house officer of the Kallar Syedan police station reached the spot along with personnel and supervised initial proceedings.
The spokesman said the injured woman was shifted to hospital for medical treatment, while the body of the deceased was moved to hospital for post-mortem examination.
The suspect has been taken into custody, and legal action has been initiated. The police were investigating the incident, the spokesman added.
Man arrested for harassing woman
The Civil Lines police arrested a man suspected of harassing a woman and threatening to kill her, a Rawalpindi police spokesman said on Friday.
According to the spokesman, the woman lodged a complaint alleging that the suspect subjected her to verbal abuse, attempted to assault her and issued death threats. Acting promptly on the complaint, the Civil Lines Police registered a case and took the suspect into custody.
The spokesman said the arrested man would be challaned with solid evidence in accordance with the law.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Potohar Talha Wali said that violence, harassment and abuse against women and children were absolutely intolerable and would be dealt with strictly.
He reiterated that the Rawalpindi Police were committed to providing protection to vulnerable segments of society and ensuring swift legal action against those involved in such crimes.
Investigation into the case was underway, the spokesman added.
