Man Kills Nephew, Injures Another Over Land Dispute

Muzaffargarh: A man was shot dead and another injured by their maternal uncle over a land dispute in Tehsil Jitoi, district Muzaffargarh, police said on Thursday.
According to a spokesperson for the Jitoi police station, the deceased, identified as Zubair—son of Shahid and a resident of the Khatati caste—was returning home after buying breakfast with his cousin, Mohammad Sajid, son of Abdul Sattar, when they were intercepted by their maternal uncle.
The accused, Shahid—son of Khuda Bukhsh and belonging to the same caste and locality—allegedly engaged in a heated argument with the victims before opening fire. Zubair died on the spot, while Sajid sustained gunshot wounds to his legs.
Police confirmed that the attack was the outcome of a longstanding dispute between the families over inherited land.
Following the incident, SDPO Chaudhry Javed Akhtar and the SHO, accompanied by a police contingent, reached the crime scene and brought the situation under control. A murder case has been registered against the accused at the Jitoi police station.
DSP Akhtar has been tasked with conducting a detailed inquiry into the incident.
