Faisalabad: Thikriwala police claimed on Tuesday to have resolved the mystery of a blind murder case by arresting two suspects, including the brother of the victim.
Police reported that unidentified individuals shot and killed Waqas, a resident of Painsra, after calling him out of his house late at night on February 27.
After receiving a report from the victim’s brother, Waseem, the police opened an investigation and registered the case. The complainant claimed that a property dispute led to his brother being attacked by his cousins Zohaib and Shafiq.
For the purpose of apprehending the true offenders, Superintendent of Police (SP) Iqbal Town Irtaza Kumail assembled a special team under the command of Station House Officer (SHO) Thikriwala police station. Mehar Zeeshan alias Shani, the complainant’s friend, was detained by the police team on suspicion, and his mobile phone data was examined.
During interrogation, MeharZeeshan confessed that he, along with complainant Waseem, called Waqas out of his house and shot him dead. He alleged that Waseem wanted to make money by implicating his cousins in the murder case, besides grasping the property of his own victim brother. Further investigation is underway.
