Rawalpindi: The mystery surrounding the body of a woman found in a rainwater drain in the jurisdiction of Rawat Police Station has been solved, as her husband and a self-proclaimed spiritual healer turned out to be the culprits. Both suspects have been arrested, a Rawalpindi Police spokesperson said on Friday.

The victim, Qudsia Batool, a private school teacher, had been facing domestic disputes with her husband, Amin. According to police, Amin frequently took her to a conjurer named Israr, who extorted money and jewelry from her under the guise of spiritual rituals.

When Batool demanded the return of her belongings, the conjurer and Amin allegedly conspired to murder her. Amin lured his wife out of the house under the pretense of a medical operation and took her to a drain, where he and Israr strangled her to death.

The suspects later buried her body, which was discovered on March 5 and identified by her children.

In an attempt to cover up the crime, Amin had registered a fake kidnapping case on December 8, 2024. Following a professional investigation, Rawat Police apprehended both accused individuals and are preparing to present them in court.
