Karachi: A deeply disturbing case of domestic violence has surfaced in Karachi’s Baghdadi area, where a 20-year-old woman was allegedly subjected to brutal sexual and physical assault by her husband just two days after their wedding.

The victim, who was married to Ashok on June 15, is now fighting for her life in the intensive care unit of Civil Hospital’s Trauma Center.

According to police, the incident took place on June 17 and has been described as one of the most horrific cases of spousal abuse in recent memory.

Initially admitted to Lyari General Hospital in critical condition, the young woman was later shifted to a private hospital. As her condition worsened, her mother was forced to move her again—this time to Civil Hospital Karachi, where she is currently receiving intensive treatment in ICU-3.

Speaking to the media, the victim’s mother tearfully appealed for justice. “My daughter was subjected to unimaginable cruelty. We had to move her from hospital to hospital just to keep her alive. I demand justice and strict punishment for the man who did this to her,” she said.

Police have confirmed the arrest of the suspect, Ashok, and stated that a case has been registered under sections 376-B (rape) and 324 (attempted murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

“We have arrested the suspect and launched a detailed investigation. We will ensure that he faces the full force of the law,” a Baghdadi police official told reporters.

The incident has sparked outrage among local residents and rights activists, who are calling for swift justice and stronger protections for victims of domestic violence.
