Hyderabad: A tragic double murder unfolded in village Khuda Bux Panhwar, under the jurisdiction of Husri Police Station, where a man accused of killing his wife was allegedly murdered minutes later by members of her family.

According to Station House Officer (SHO) Juman Khoso, 50-year-old Ali Nawaz Panhwar fatally attacked his 35-year-old wife, Hafeezan Panhwar — a mother of four — with a sharp object, reportedly in a case linked to domestic violence.

SHO Khoso stated that as Ali Nawaz fled the scene after the attack, he was intercepted and killed by members of his in-laws’ family.

Police revealed that Ali Nawaz had a criminal past and was previously convicted in two murder cases, serving 12 years in prison. He was also known to be a drug addict and frequently resorted to violence at home.

Both bodies were shifted to Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) for postmortem examinations. By Saturday evening, no FIR had been registered in connection with the incident.

However, a police source confirmed that the slain woman’s brother and nephew had been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in Ali Nawaz’s killing, although the arrests had not been officially announced by the police.
