Islamabad: Pakistani blockbuster Love Guru has taken the UK box office by storm, surpassing Bollywood heavyweight Housefull 5 by £19,000 within just two weeks of its release.

Starring Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed, Love Guru earned £75,000 in its second weekend, outpacing Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5, which brought in £56,000 over the same period. The film has now grossed a remarkable £266,000 (over PKR 10 crore) in just nine days, reaffirming its strong appeal among international audiences.

In a further milestone, Love Guru has also broken the first-week record previously held by The Legend of Maula Jatt. While Maula Jatt garnered Rs110 million in its opening week, Love Guru raked in Rs120 million, setting a new benchmark in Pakistani cinema.

This latest success not only highlights the star power of Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed but also signals renewed energy and global interest in Pakistan’s film industry.

The cast actively promoted the film in key international markets, including the UK and the US, generating buzz and drawing crowds. At a recent promotional event, Mahira Khan shared her aspirations for the film to cross the Rs1 billion mark. “Everyone say Ameen,” she smiled, addressing the crowd.

Meanwhile, co-star Humayun Saeed lauded director Nadeem Baig’s vision, saying, “He is the best director in the country.” With a laugh, he added, “He charges me full price, but he’s worth it.”

With its growing success, Love Guru is not just a box office hit — it’s a symbol of the rising global profile of Pakistani cinema.
