Loud US Election Barges into Quiet Amish Country

Lancaster: In Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the Amish community’s quiet way of life contrasts sharply with the political noise surrounding the US election. While Christian faith is central to the Amish, some have been drawn into politics, with Trump signs visible on several Amish farms.
Most Amish refrain from voting, believing God has already determined the election’s outcome. Leroy Stoltzfus, an 84-year-old retired farmer, expressed that God will decide the next president, while others in the community, like Paul Bilier, support Trump for his strong business approach.
Though politics remains on the margins, some Amish do vote, and efforts to encourage voting among them continue, particularly from Republican organizers.
