Lightning Strike Kills Cop and Son in Bahawalpur

Bahawalpur: A police constable and his teenage son were killed, while two others sustained burn injuries after being struck by lightning during a thunderstorm in Yazman tehsil, Bahawalpur, late Saturday night.
According to police and Punjab Emergency Service sources, the victims were sitting under a tree in their agricultural field after sowing crops when lightning struck. The deceased were identified as 50-year-old Shaukat Ghumman, a police constable, and his 16-year-old son, Umair, who died on the spot.
Two others — 12-year-old Zubair, the constable’s younger son, and 30-year-old Ahmad Hussain — suffered burn injuries. Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the site and provided first aid to the injured before shifting them to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Yazman. Medical sources said the injured were out of danger.
All four victims were residents of Chak 98/DB, Yazman.
