Lightning Claims Four Lives Across Punjab, Leaves Four Injured

Bahawalpur: At least four lives were tragically lost, and four others sustained injuries in lightning strikes across various parts of Punjab on Saturday. 

In Bahawalpur, a woman and a boy lost their lives, and two individuals were injured due to a lightning strike during a thunderstorm in Mauza Dhanote of Ahmadpur East Tehsil.

Additionally, one person perished, and two cows were also killed in a lightning strike in the Cholistan desert area.

Rescue efforts swiftly mobilized, with ambulances rushing to the scene to transport the injured to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQs) in Ahmadpur East. 

Meanwhile, the local Meteorological Office has issued a forecast indicating that South Punjab, including Bahawalpur district and the Cholistan desert, may experience intermittent rainfall for the next two days.

Residents have been advised to avoid open areas, especially during thunderstorms and lightning occurrences.

In separate incidents in Muzaffargarh, at least two people lost their lives and two others sustained injuries due to lightning strikes.In Seetpur, Sultanpur, a citizen named Shakir, son of Fazal Hussain, was fatally struck by lightning.

Another incident took place in Basti Larki Jhulan Khairpur, where Liaquat, son of Amanullah, was severely injured by lightning and subsequently hospitalized.

Tragically, in Allah Baksh near Jatoi, Mujahid Gadara lost his life while tending to his cow during a lightning strike, which also claimed the life of the cow. In Basti Ghazi, Nizamabad, a boy was killed, and a 13-year-old named Qadeer sustained injuries when lightning struck a hut. Multiple lightning strikes were reported in Laghariwala, near Ali Pur, prompting the deployment of police and rescue teams to the area to initiate relief efforts.
