Lahore: Lahore experienced light rainfall across various parts of the city on Thursday, bringing a welcome break from the scorching heat and humid conditions that had plagued the city for the past week. The showers, while scattered, turned the weather pleasant and provided much-needed respite for citizens.

According to the Meteorological Department, the highest recorded rainfall was 2 millimetres in Paniwala Talab, while other areas such as Gulberg, Upper Mall, and Tajpura received 1 millimetre of rain each.

In response to the weather conditions, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has been placed on high alert. WASA officials have issued instructions to ensure all disposal stations remain fully functional. The Vice Chairman of WASA directed field staff to keep pumping stations operational around the clock, particularly in low-lying areas prone to water accumulation.

“All generators must be kept on standby to handle any power outages,” the Vice Chairman emphasized, urging disposal stations to switch to generator power immediately in case of electricity disruptions to prevent urban flooding.

The Managing Director of WASA also reviewed drainage preparedness and instructed zonal heads to be on the ground during the rainfall.

The Meteorological Office has forecast more light to moderate rainfall in the coming hours, particularly in the eastern and northern parts of the city. Citizens have been advised to stay updated on weather alerts and avoid unnecessary travel in areas with known drainage issues.
