Light Rain Brings Relief to Islamabad After Intense Heatwave

News Desk

Islamabad: Light rain fell over Islamabad on Saturday morning, offering a brief respite following a prolonged spell of extreme heat that gripped the capital this June.

Earlier this month, the city endured one of its worst heatwaves in recent history, with temperatures soaring to a scorching 45°C on June 11 — marking one of the hottest days ever recorded in Islamabad.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had forecast pre-monsoon showers in several parts of the country, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, between June 20 and 23. The rain is expected to help ease the persistent heat, with the Met Office predicting a gradual decline in high temperatures during this period.

The welcome change in weather brought some relief to residents as the capital begins transitioning into the monsoon season.
