Islamabad: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued a written order to hear the case involving renowned Pakistani playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar, following a request from the accused.

The court directed the Director-General of the Federal Investigation Agency (DGFIA) to file a complaint against the police officers involved and to take appropriate action.

This directive came in response to a plea from the accused, who alleged custodial violence.

The court’s written order highlighted that a medical report confirmed that Amina Urooj was subjected to torture during her physical remand, constituting an offense under the Custodial Death Act, 2022.

The LHC emphasized that investigating this case is essential to ensure that those responsible are held accountable. The accused claimed that both mental and physical torture were inflicted during their physical remand.

The written order also noted that the accused was presented before the court as per the court’s directive.
