Lahore: A woman identified as Khansa Hussain has been arrested by Defence police in Lahore on charges of animal cruelty after allegedly torturing and killing pets and posting disturbing images and videos on social media.

Police officials said Hussain had been operating an Instagram account where she shared graphic content involving dead and injured animals. A subsequent raid on her residence uncovered the remains of several pets and multiple live animals, including rabbits, ducks, cats, squirrels, and various birds, found in distressing conditions.

The rescued animals were immediately transferred to the Wildlife Department for care and rehabilitation.

Authorities believe the suspect may be mentally unstable and have moved her to a mental health facility for evaluation. A case has been registered against her under relevant provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act.

Investigators also revealed that the woman used social media to tag animals and pressure users into purchasing them, raising concerns about possible exploitation and online abuse.

Police have urged citizens to report any instances of animal mistreatment shared online and called on social media platforms to enhance their monitoring of such content.
