Doctors Demand Justice After Lady Doctor’s Murder in Kohat

Doctors’ associations on Tuesday strongly condemned the brutal killing of lady doctor Mehwish Hassnain, demanding swift justice and enhanced security measures for healthcare professionals across the district.

In a joint statement, representatives of various medical bodies termed the incident “deeply tragic and alarming,” saying the attack has created fear and unrest among the medical community.

Spokesperson Dr. Kashif said that the medical profession symbolizes peace, humanity and selfless service, yet doctors themselves were increasingly becoming targets of violence. He stressed that the government must ensure the protection of healthcare workers who dedicate their lives to saving others.

He further stated that under such circumstances, peaceful protest was both a constitutional and moral right of the medical fraternity. The associations warned that if concrete steps were not taken to arrest the perpetrators and improve security, they would be compelled to expand their protest.

Doctors also called for a transparent investigation into the incident and urged authorities to bring those responsible to justice at the earliest.
