Labour Migration on the Rise: 172K Pakistanis Go Abroad in 3 Months

Islamabad: Around 172,144 Pakistani workers went abroad for employment during the first three months of this year, according to the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE), an attached department of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OP&HRD).
The report reveals that 1,859 masons, 38,274 drivers, and 1,689 cooks were among those who secured overseas employment. Additionally, 849 doctors, 1,479 engineers, 390 nurses, 3,474 technicians, and 1,058 welders also left the country for work opportunities abroad.
Other skilled professionals included 2,130 electricians and 436 teachers, according to the report.
Saudi Arabia remained the top destination, receiving 121,970 Pakistani workers. Other notable destinations included:
