Peshawar: Under the directives of the Advisor to the Finance Department, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Muzzammil Aslam, and the Director General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA), Fouzia Iqbal, the third phase of KPRA’s tax enforcement drive is underway in Peshawar.

As part of this initiative, the KPRA is conducting on-site inspections, reviewing business records, and issuing immediate penalties for violations of tax laws.

On Saturday night, Additional Collector Central Abdul Raziq Khan, accompanied by Assistant Collector Shahnawaz Hassan Khan, carried out a surprise inspection of a prominent restaurant in Namak Mandi, Peshawar.

Upon reviewing its records, the team discovered the restaurant had failed to issue sales tax invoices. A penalty notice of Rs. 100,000 was subsequently issued to the establishment.

Commenting on the operation, Additional Collector Abdul Raziq Khan emphasized that KPRA will continue surprise inspections to ensure strict adherence to tax regulations. He warned that businesses failing to comply with the KPRA Sales Tax on Services Act, 2022, will face strict penalties.

He urged business owners, especially restaurant operators, to issue proper sales tax invoices to avoid penalties.

The KPRA has also called on citizens to report any incidents of tax fraud, evasion, or concealment via its official WhatsApp number: 0333-1421423. Immediate action will be taken on complaints, and updates on outcomes will be provided.

To further bolster tax compliance, KPRA has introduced a whistleblower mechanism. Individuals reporting tax fraud, evasion, or concealment will be rewarded, with their identities kept strictly confidential.

This proactive approach is part of KPRA’s ongoing efforts to enhance revenue collection and ensure compliance with tax laws across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
