KP Faces Measles Surge

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is facing a significant outbreak of measles, with the KP Health Department reporting a surge in cases across several districts this week.
A total of 12 new measles cases have been confirmed from different districts in the province. The Bajaur District Headquarters Hospital in Khar recorded the highest number of patients, with 21 cases. Other districts have also reported concerning figures: Peshawar (21 cases), Shangla (20), Dera Ismail Khan (17), and Malakand (11).
Meanwhile, Bannu and Dir Lower have each reported 10 cases, with Lower Kohistan and Swabi seeing 6 and 9 cases, respectively.
The KP Health Department has urged citizens to remain vigilant and has emphasized the importance of vaccinations, particularly in affected regions, to prevent further spread of the highly contagious disease.
Health authorities are actively monitoring the situation and coordinating efforts to contain the outbreak across the province.
