Peshawar: Treasury bench lawmaker Abdus Salam on Friday drew the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s attention to alleged illegal appointments in the health department of Mardan.

Speaking on a calling attention notice, he said that the District Selection Committee had approved 66 vacant posts in October 2021, but 222 people were appointed against them. He termed the appointments a violation of existing rules and regulations, adding that employees were facing difficulties in receiving their salaries due to the irregular hiring.

The MPA urged the provincial government to launch an inquiry into the matter and called for a system to prevent such irregularities in the future. He also proposed referring the case to the standing committee for further action.

Deputy Speaker Suriya Bibi, who was chairing the session, referred the matter to the standing committee on the recommendation of Law Minister Aftab Alam.
