Islamabad: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) roared back to life on Saturday after a tense hiatus, with Karachi Kings delivering a dominant performance in the 27th match of the tournament.

Taking full advantage of favorable batting conditions, the Kings posted a colossal total of 237 for 4 against Peshawar Zalmi — one of the highest scores in PSL 10 so far.

Peshawar Zalmi, who won the toss and chose to field first, quickly found themselves on the back foot. Karachi’s opening duo of David Warner and James Vince launched a relentless assault on the bowling attack, delighting fans with explosive stroke play.

Warner, in dazzling form, hammered 86 runs, while Vince contributed a blistering 72, laying the foundation for a commanding innings.

Middle-order fireworks continued as Khushdil Shah smashed a quick 43, while veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi added an unbeaten 26 to bolster the total. Irfan Khan chipped in with 2 runs before the innings wrapped up at the end of 20 overs.

Peshawar Zalmi bowlers found little relief throughout the innings. Luke Wood was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets, while Ali Za and Arif Yaqoob managed one apiece.

The high-voltage encounter comes in the wake of a temporary suspension of the PSL due to escalating tensions between Pakistan and India. In a precautionary move, all foreign players were earlier evacuated to Dubai via a special flight. With a ceasefire now holding, the league has resumed, reigniting excitement among fans and players alike.

Facing a daunting target of 238 runs, Peshawar Zalmi will need a spectacular batting performance to stay in contention for the playoffs. With the stakes higher than ever, the second innings promises to deliver thrilling cricket action.
