Khanewal Authorities Seize Over 600 Kg Of Prohibited Bags

Khanewal: The district administration has confiscated over 600 kilograms of plastic bags following a ban imposed by the Punjab government on single-use plastic and shopping bags with a thickness of less than 75 microns.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Bukhari stated that monitoring teams are actively overseeing compliance throughout the district. A fine of Rs 44,000 has been levied on shopkeepers found in violation of the ban. He urged both citizens and shopkeepers to refrain from using prohibited shopping bags.

In a recent operation, Assistant Commissioner Sunbal Javed, accompanied by Deputy Director Environment Sarfraz Anjum, conducted a raid on Al-Jannat Road. During the inspection of polythene wholesale and dealer shops, they seized 38 kilograms of banned polythene bags from Haji and Sons Plastic Store.

Deputy Commissioner has directed Assistant Commissioners to intensify their crackdown and enforce stricter measures against shopkeepers involved in the sale and purchase of plastic bags.
