Hamilton: New Zealand’s White Ferns began their T20 series against Zimbabwe with an emphatic victory in Hamilton, posting a commanding 202/1 before restricting the visitors to 110/4 in the series opener.
Captain Amelia Kerr starred with a blistering 101, reaching her century in just 51 balls, while Isabella Gaze contributed a steady 66 not out off 50 deliveries. Georgia Plummer added a quick 32, helping the White Ferns set a target that proved beyond Zimbabwe’s reach.
Despite losing several early wickets, Zimbabwe struggled to maintain the required run rate. Beloved Biza top scored for the visitors with 49 not out, but her efforts could not prevent a comprehensive defeat.

The three-match T20 series, hosted entirely in Waikato, serves as a build-up to the three-match ODI series scheduled to start in Dunedin on 5 March.
Analysts noted that New Zealand’s strong batting display, led by Kerr’s explosive innings, puts them firmly in control as the series continues.
This victory underscores New Zealand’s depth in the T20 format and highlights Kerr’s growing reputation as one of the leading all-rounders in women’s cricket.
