Kaghan: Severe monsoon rain on Friday paralysed life throughout the Manshera district, and the scenic Kaghan Valley has experienced landslides and floods along rainwater drains which resulted in the closure of the crucial Kaghan highway.
Overflowing rainwater drains and landslides blocked several sections of the Kaghan Highway. Nevertheless, workers from the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) swiftly intervened to clear the road and rescue stranded vehicles, prioritising the safety of tourists caught in the affected areas.
Mansehra’s district administration, KDA and other allied departments bolstered by machinery and mobile units were able to restore traffic in the impacted districts.
KDA has strategically placed employees and equipment at several sites to aid and guide tourists because the weather conditions are still dangerous. Visitors have been warned to use caution and stay away from rivers, streams, and landslide-prone areas as a precaution.
Recognising the seriousness of the situation, the authorities have taken the essential precautions to safeguard the safety of both visitors and locals throughout this rainy season. They continue to regularly monitor weather patterns.
In response to complaints regarding charging fees from tourists at Kiwai waterfall from a social media post shared by a tourist, Tariq Khan, the KDA Director General immediately dispatched a team to take strict legal action against the delinquent.
The board and the person charging illegal fees have both been removed from the Kiwai waterfall. KDA appreciates tourists input regarding matters concerning such issues that cause unnecessary inconveniences to them.
