KDA Launches Glacier Removal Operation to Ensure Tourist Safety

News Desk

Kaghan: The Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) has commenced an important operation to break and remove melting glaciers at several locations to protect tourists.

This action follows directives from KDA Director General Shabbir Khan.

Deputy Director Ameen-ul-Hassan has assembled a specialised team led by Building Inspector Faizan Khan. The team is using heavy machinery to address the melting glaciers that present risks to thousands of visitors in popular areas such as Chitta Katha Lake and the Saif-ul-Muluk Road.

In light of the increased temperatures causing glacier melting, the administration has issued a cautionary advisory.

Tourists are strongly advised not to take photographs of melting glaciers due to unstable conditions. Additionally, visitors should avoid hazardous routes prone to sliding to prevent accidents.

Recent incidents highlight the urgency of this operation. A couple of days ago, two tourists from Punjab tragically lost their lives when a glacier collapsed while they were taking photos, underscoring the dangers posed by melting glaciers.
