Kazakh University Marks Iqbal Day with Special Celebrations

Almaty: The Department of Middle East and South Asia at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University recently hosted a special event titled “Iqbal’s Readings” to commemorate Allama Muhammad Iqbal Day.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including Rizwana Qazi, the Consul of Pakistan to Kazakhstan, and Walid Iqbal, the grandson of the renowned philosopher-poet.
Other distinguished guests included Dr Abdul Iqbal Rafiqui, Director of the Iqbal Academy, and Muhammad Murtaza Noor, National Coordinator of the Inter University Consortium for the Promotion of Social Sciences, Pakistan.
Dr Em Natalia Borisovna, Dean of the Oriental Studies Faculty at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, extended a warm welcome to the attendees.
During the proceedings, speakers emphasized Allama Iqbal’s significant contributions to both Pakistan and the global intellectual community, highlighting his profound influence on the political and philosophical landscape of the subcontinent.
The event also featured student performances of Iqbal’s iconic poetry, bringing his literary works to life and celebrating his enduring legacy.
This occasion not only served as a tribute to Iqbal’s intellectual and poetic legacy but also reinforced the strong cultural and academic ties between Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
