Katz Warns Iran of Possible Military Action Over Nuclear Threat

Islamabad: Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz issued a warning on Tuesday about the possibility of renewed military action against Iran, citing growing concerns over Tehran’s nuclear and missile programs.

In a statement released by his office, Katz’s remarks came during a high-level security assessment attended by senior Israeli defence and intelligence officials, including IDF Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir, Deputy Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Tamir Yadai, and representatives from Mossad and Shin Bet.

The meeting, which explored multiple strategic scenarios, focused on Israel’s regional security posture—particularly the perceived threat from Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Katz emphasized the need to preserve Israel’s air superiority, which he said was solidified during Operation Rising Lion, and called for a robust enforcement strategy to prevent Iran from reconstituting its nuclear and missile capabilities.

“The future of regional stability depends on blocking Iran from rebuilding its dangerous arsenal,” Katz stated. He stressed that Israeli forces must remain vigilant and ready to counter threats from Iran or its regional proxies.

Regional Security Concerns: Gaza, Yemen, and Beyond

Katz also addressed ongoing military operations in Gaza and Yemen, asserting that these fronts require sustained focus under Israel’s current “aggressive offensive policy.” He credited this approach with reducing threats originating from Iran, Lebanon, and Syria.

He confirmed that Israeli forces remain deployed in sensitive regions of Syria and Lebanon to protect border communities. These deployments, he said, are not merely tactical but serve as strategic deterrents against further escalation.

West Bank Operations

Turning to the West Bank, Katz praised the IDF’s continued operations, particularly in the northern Samaria refugee camps. He said these efforts have been effective in disrupting emerging militant cells and instructed commanders to maintain a strong presence, ready to take decisive action against new threats.

Renewed Warning to Tehran

Katz’s comments follow a previous warning issued to Iran during a recent Israeli Air Force graduation ceremony, where he described Israeli pilots as the IDF’s “long arm,” capable of reaching deep into Iranian territory—including Tehran, Isfahan, and Tabriz.

The statement was widely viewed as a clear signal of Israel’s willingness to act preemptively should Iran breach what Israeli officials deem critical red lines in nuclear development.

Tensions between Israel and Iran have intensified in recent months, amid international alarm over Iran’s uranium enrichment efforts and its support for regional militant groups.

While no immediate military operation was announced, Katz’s statements underscore that Israel is keeping all military options open as part of its ongoing deterrence strategy.

He reiterated that the objectives in Gaza remain unchanged: securing the release of all Israeli hostages and dismantling Hamas’s military infrastructure.
