Karachi’s Heat Eases Slightly, More Rain Expected Next Week
News Desk
Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted partly cloudy and humid conditions for Karachi over the next 24 hours, with the possibility of light drizzle in some areas.
The city’s maximum temperature is expected to hover between 32°C and 34°C, while the minimum temperature recorded earlier today was 29°C. Humidity levels remain high at 79%, and sea breezes are blowing at a speed of 11 kilometers per hour.
Meanwhile, PMD officials have indicated that a new monsoon system may impact Sindh around July 5 or 6, potentially bringing more widespread rainfall.
Though Karachiites have welcomed the recent showers as relief from prolonged heat, the ongoing monsoon spell has also led to several fatalities and injuries across the city.
Elsewhere in the country, scattered rain, wind, and thunderstorms are expected over the next 12 hours in areas such as Kashmir, northeast Punjab, the Potohar region, Islamabad, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to Radio Pakistan.
Isolated morning showers are likely in several regions, while most parts of the country are expected to experience hot and humid conditions.
Morning temperatures in major cities were recorded as follows:
- Islamabad, Peshawar, Gilgit: 27°C
- Lahore: 28°C
- Karachi: 30°C
- Quetta: 25°C
- Murree: 17°C
- Muzaffarabad: 23°C
