Karachi Weather Alert: Thunderstorms and Rain Expected

Islamabad: Karachi is expected to experience its third monsoon spell starting today, continuing until Sunday, July 20, according to ARY News citing the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The PMD forecasts moderate to heavy rainfall in Karachi, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. The city will see cloudy skies with high humidity levels, creating muggy conditions.

Currently, humidity in Karachi stands at 72%, with southwesterly winds blowing at 11 kilometers per hour. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius today.

Earlier, heavy rains caused significant damage in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), resulting in at least 30 deaths in Punjab and seven in KP due to various rain-related incidents.

Since last night, Lahore has experienced heavy rainfall that submerged many parts of the city, flooding major traffic routes.

Around 10 people lost their lives in Lahore due to electrocution and collapsing rooftops during the downpour, which began at 9:10 PM on Tuesday.

Among the casualties were two children, 15-year-old Awais and 13-year-old Esha, who died from electrocution in Harbanspura, Lahore.

In separate incidents, five family members died and two were injured when a rooftop collapsed in Muridwal, Thokar Niaz Beg. Additionally, three people died and many were injured when a roof caved in at Raiwind.

Faisalabad also reported seven deaths due to roof collapses.

Other casualties include three deaths each in Bahawalnagar and Okara, two in Pakpatan, and one each in Sahiwal and Arifwala from rain-related accidents, according to reports.
