Karachi Police Arrest Man Accused of Abusing Over 100 Children
News Desk
Karachi: Karachi police have arrested a man suspect of sexually abusing more than 100 children, along with an alleged accomplice, in what officials have described as one of the city’s largest operations against child sexual abuse this year.
According to Superintendent of Police (Investigations) East Usman Sadozai, the prime suspect, identified as Imran, is accused of sexually abusing more than 100 boys aged between 12 and 13 over several years.
A second suspect, Waqas Khan, has also been taken into custody for his alleged role in some of the cases.
The arrests were made in the Tipu Sultan area after a victim identified the suspects. Police said Imran and Waqas were apprehended while allegedly planning another offence.
SP Sadozai said Karachi Police had received nine formal complaints related to the suspect between 2020 and 2025. Breakthroughs in the case came after DNA evidence matched across multiple incidents reported in different districts, including cases separated by as much as six years.
A special investigation team led by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) CIA Muqaddas Haider was constituted on January 6, and the suspects were arrested within 11 days, the SP said.

Investigators said Imran, a puncture repairman from Manzoor Colony, would lure children onto his motorcycle and take them to isolated areas near the Malir River, where the alleged abuse took place, typically between 6pm and midnight.
While only nine cases have been officially registered so far, police believe the number of victims may exceed 100. SP Sadozai said evidence also linked the second suspect to at least one or two cases, noting that in one instance both accused were identified by a victim. DNA evidence has reportedly matched in all registered cases, and several victims have identified the suspects.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah praised the police for the arrests and acknowledged that only a limited number of victims have come forward so far. He directed investigators to continue efforts to trace other possible victims and instructed the Additional Inspector General to submit daily progress reports.
“I will not tolerate child abuse cases under any circumstances,” the chief minister said, stressing that the prosecution must be based strictly on evidence.
Suspect remanded in custody
Later, Mahmoodabad police produced the prime suspect before a Judicial Magistrate South and requested a 14-day physical remand.
The investigating officer told the court that custody was required for further interrogation, claiming the suspect had admitted during preliminary questioning to attempting abuse of multiple children. Police also raised concerns that some victims may have been killed after the alleged abuse.
After hearing arguments, the magistrate granted a three-day physical remand of the prime suspect for further investigation. Input from Geo News website.
