Islamabad: A shocking case of alleged harassment and illegal confinement of a female call center employee has come to light in Karachi, ARY News reported on Wednesday, citing police sources.

According to authorities, the woman was allegedly held against her will inside a software house in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, from where she managed to contact her family by phone.

When her relatives arrived at the scene, a violent confrontation erupted as the software house owners reportedly opened fire. Although gunfire was exchanged, no casualties were reported, and the woman was safely rescued.

Police later confirmed the arrest of eight suspects, including five armed call center employees. Two rifles and three pistols were recovered, and six FIRs were registered under sections relating to harassment, wrongful confinement, aerial firing, rioting, and death threats.

The FIR revealed that the victim’s father stated his daughter had been working at the call center for three years. Branch manager Daniyal allegedly harassed her with inappropriate remarks and conduct. When the victim informed her cousin, he confronted Daniyal, who allegedly threatened them.

On the day of the incident, the girl was reportedly locked inside the office. When her family tried to intervene, Daniyal and his accomplices used abusive language and opened fire. Other employees, including guards Imran and Raza, also joined in the shooting.

Police said their swift response team arrived promptly after a distress call and arrested the suspects on the spot.
