Jonas Brothers’ Nazia Hassan Tribute Video Goes Viral
News Desk
Islamabad: Nick Jonas surprised fans with a lively tribute to Pakistani pop icon Nazia Hasan ahead of a Jonas Brothers performance in New York.
The 33-year-old singer shared a short video on Instagram as part of the band’s tradition of a “pre-show hype song” during their JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour.
Captioned “tonight’s pre-show hype song,” the clip shows Nick dancing to the iconic tune “Aap Jaisa Koi” alongside his wife, actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and brothers Kevin and Joe Jonas. Shot just before the band took the stage at UBS Arena in Belmont Park, New York, the 15-second video quickly went viral.
The clip opens with the Jonas Brothers grooving to the classic track before Priyanka joins in, adding a touch of Bollywood-inspired energy. Fans were delighted by the lighthearted moment, which provided a fun contrast to the band’s high-octane stage performances.
The song “Aap Jaisa Koi”, from the 1980 film ‘Qurbani’, was originally performed by Nazia Hasan, widely recognized as South Asia’s first pop star. Composed by ‘Biddu’, the track is considered a landmark in the evolution of pop music in Pakistan and India during the late 1970s and 1980s.
This isn’t the first time the Jonas Brothers have embraced South Asian music. Their pre-concert videos recently featured them dancing to tracks like “Shararat”, highlighting the group’s growing appreciation for the region’s pop culture.
