Joint Team Formed to Tackle Encroachments

Rawalpindi: A joint team of Cantt Boards and the Rawalpindi district administration was established to tackle encroachments, particularly along the banks of Nullah Lai.

Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Engineer Aamir Khattak, and Station Commander Rawalpindi, Ahmed Nawaz, led an anti-encroachment and cleanliness meeting where they emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to benefit citizens.

Commissioner Khattak highlighted that the purpose of this joint meeting was to enhance mutual coordination and cooperation. He stressed that jurisdictional issues should not hinder public welfare initiatives.

The Commissioner also called for the swift removal of encroachments and completion of the Nullahs’ de-silting process.

Engineer Khattak noted that five tributaries of Nullah Lai fall within the Cantt Boards’ jurisdiction. He emphasized the importance of timely de-silting for these tributaries as well.

He instructed the authorities to fully support the Cantt Boards in their cleaning and de-salination projects.

The anti-encroachment operation will be divided into ward and road-wise sections to ensure thorough clearing of areas, with a focus on eliminating permanent encroachments.

The Commissioner also proposed increasing the number of garbage transfer stations in Rawalpindi and setting up temporary transfer stations in each tehsil.

Station Commander Ahmed Nawaz affirmed their commitment to maintaining cleanliness across all areas, improving manpower efficiency, and utilizing resources optimally. He assured that they will collaborate to ensure the effectiveness of the measures taken for public convenience.
