Tokyo: Japan successfully launched its new flagship H3 rocket on Monday, carrying a defense communication satellite from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture.
The H3 rocket, developed by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, released the satellite, which promptly entered its designated orbit.
This satellite is intended to enhance information sharing among Japan’s Self-Defense Forces.
The H3 rocket, Japan’s next-generation model, is set to replace the H2A rocket, which is expected to be retired by March 2024 with its 50th launch.
This was the fourth H3 launch, following a failed debut in March 2023 and two successful missions this year.
