ITP Announces Traffic Plan for Youm-e-Quds in Islamabad

Islamabad: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Friday issued a comprehensive traffic management plan for Youm-e-Quds, announcing multiple road diversions and closures across the federal capital to ensure smooth traffic flow and security arrangements.

An ITP official said that Margalla Road will remain the only open route for entry into the Red Zone, while several major roads in and around the city will remain closed or partially closed during the day.

According to the plan, commuters traveling towards E-11 and D-12 have been advised to use service roads. Traffic entering Islamabad from GT Road should take the 26 Number Tarnol route towards Srinagar Highway.

Vehicles heading to Sabzi Mandi via IJP Road have been advised to use Ninth Avenue, while commuters traveling from Taramri should take Lehtrar Road and Islamabad Expressway.

The official said traffic from G-9 Labour Chowk towards the Markaz will be diverted through Qaddafi Chowk to Ninth Avenue, while vehicles coming from G-10/3 Labour Chowk on Ibn‑e‑Sina Road will be diverted via G-10/3 Chowk to the Ninth Avenue service road.

Similarly, vehicles moving from Ibn-e-Sina Road towards G-10/3 Labour Chowk will be redirected through G-9 Labour Chowk and Qaddafi Chowk. Traffic approaching the Tayyab Erdogan Flyover will be diverted through Bohar Mosque Chowk towards Ninth Avenue.

Traffic from Peshawar Morr via PARC Avenue will be diverted towards Ibn-e-Sina Road, while vehicles approaching Jinnah Avenue from F-10 Roundabout will be redirected through Tayyab Erdogan Flyover and Ninth Avenue towards Shaheen Chowk and Margalla Road.

Vehicles coming from Naeemat Gul Chowk on Jinnah Avenue will be diverted towards Chauhar Chowk Signal, Nazimuddin Road and Faisal Avenue. Traffic moving from Kacheri Loop towards Jinnah Avenue will be redirected via Chauhar Chowk Signal, Nazimuddin Road, Margalla Road, F-8/1 Service Road, Kohistan Road and Kaghan Road.

Similarly, traffic from Nazimuddin Corner F-7/1 will be diverted towards Faisal Avenue and Margalla Road, while vehicles near Saudi Pak Tower, Kulsum Plaza and China Chowk will be redirected through Nazimuddin Road, Margalla Road and Seventh Avenue.

Traffic approaching Aabpara Chowk towards Suhrawardy Road will be diverted to Srinagar Highway and Seventh Avenue, while another diversion near the Shell Pump at Aabpara Chowk will direct vehicles towards Old MNA Hostel and Srinagar Highway.

Commuters traveling from Lal Masjid towards Aabpara have been advised to use Shaheed‑e‑Millat Road, while Seventh Avenue, Sadr Road and G-6 Service Road can also be used as alternate routes.

In addition, traffic from Chand Tara Underpass on Srinagar Highway towards Aabpara will be diverted towards Faisal Avenue, Faizabad, Murree Road and Garden Avenue.

Red Zone Restrictions

ITP also issued a separate advisory regarding restrictions around the Red Zone, stating that all routes leading to Iran Avenue will remain closed. The Chand Tara Flyover from Srinagar Highway to Serena Chowk will also remain closed for traffic.

Similarly, Suhrawardy Road from Aabpara will remain completely closed for both incoming and outgoing traffic.

The official added that Jinnah Avenue from Tayyab Erdogan Flyover to Kulsum Plaza Chowk, Seventh Avenue Bridge, and Fazal-e-Haq Road up to Geo Chowk will remain closed.

Other roads facing complete closure include Haji Camp Chowk to Islamabad Chowk, IJP Road from Gandam Godam to Fakir Aipee Road, the service road from NESCOM towards I-10, and both sides of the I-8 to IJP Double Road.

Meanwhile, Club Road from Rawal Dam Chowk to Kashmir Chowk and Park Road from Shehzad Town to Musharraf Chowk will remain partially closed on one side.

ITP advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, follow the announced diversions and leave earlier than usual to prevent inconvenience.
