Israel’s President Calls It a “Very Sad and Difficult Morning”

Israeli President Isaac Herzog described the aftermath of Iran’s latest missile strikes as a “very sad and difficult morning” for the nation, as casualties continue to rise following an intensifying regional conflict.
In a post on X, Herzog condemned what he called “criminal Iranian attacks” and expressed prayers for the swift recovery of the wounded and the safe return of those still missing.
The strikes—part of Iran’s Operation True Promise III—targeted multiple areas across Israel, including near Haifa and Tel Aviv. Medics and local media reported at least 10 people dead and dozens more injured. A particularly devastating strike in Bat Yam, just south of Tel Aviv, left many unaccounted for.
Iran’s escalation comes in response to Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory, including an assault on Tehran’s Shahran oil facility that caused massive fires and damaged critical civilian and energy infrastructure.
Israel’s military defended its operation, claiming it targeted locations tied to Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons program. However, the tit-for-tat attacks have pushed tensions between the two countries to dangerous new levels, with Day 2 of Iran’s retaliatory campaign unleashing further devastation.
