Israeli Strike Kills Hamas Leader Haniyeh

Tehran: On Wednesday, Hamas announced that its political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Tehran, where he had been attending the inauguration of Iran’s new president.

According to Hamas, Haniyeh’s headquarters in Tehran was targeted, resulting in his death along with that of a bodyguard.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards confirmed the strike, stating that Haniyeh and his bodyguard were killed when his residence was hit. Haniyeh had traveled to Tehran for the swearing-in ceremony of President Masoud Pezeshkian. The Israeli military has not yet commented on the reports.
