Jerusalem: Israel’s military announced the opening of an additional aid crossing into Gaza on Tuesday, in response to a US-imposed deadline to improve humanitarian conditions in the war-torn region.

The new “Kissufim” crossing will allow the delivery of vital supplies, including food, water, medical aid, and shelter equipment to central and southern Gaza.

The opening comes just ahead of the November 13 deadline set by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, who warned Israel that failure to improve aid delivery to Gaza could result in a reduction of military assistance from the United States.

The joint operation, involving the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), the Israeli Ministry of Defense, and the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), aims to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches Palestinian civilians in accordance with international law.
