Beirut: Israel launched airstrikes on Hezbollah strongholds in southern Lebanon on Thursday, following two waves of explosions that targeted its communications systems. The attacks resulted in the deaths of 37 people.

Hezbollah operatives’ pagers and walkie-talkies exploded in various locations, including supermarkets, streets, and funerals. Israel has not yet commented on these attacks.

The explosions, involving communication devices, also wounded more than 2,900 individuals, including two children, according to Lebanon’s health minister.

Israel’s Defence Minister Yoav Gallant addressed the situation on Wednesday, stating, “The centre of gravity is moving northward,” and warned, “We are at the start of a new phase in the war.”
