Israel Bombs Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen Amid Escalating Conflict
News Desk
Islamabad: The Middle East is experiencing severe turmoil following a series of violent events. Israel has launched airstrikes on Gaza, Lebanon, and Yemen in retaliation for attacks from Iran-backed militant groups.
Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts by Washington, including a potential deal to end the protracted conflict between Israel and Hamas, recent developments have intensified the violence.
The Israeli military intercepted a missile from Yemen while continuing its offensive in Gaza. Strikes have resulted in numerous casualties in Gaza, with significant damage reported in various regions including Nuseirat, Bureij, and Khan Yunis.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah and Hamas have attacked Israeli positions from Lebanon, and Yemen’s Huthi rebels have vowed retaliation after Israeli strikes on Hodeida port, resulting in multiple casualties there.
The Gaza conflict, ignited by a Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023, has led to extensive loss of life on both sides. The conflict has caused severe humanitarian crises in Gaza, exacerbated by obstacles to aid delivery and a rising threat of disease.
The situation remains dire, with widespread public demonstrations in Israel calling for the return of hostages and a ceasefire.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to address US lawmakers in Washington, where he is expected to face pressure to secure a ceasefire.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has expressed optimism that a truce could be near, aiming to end the violence, facilitate hostage recovery, and pave the way for lasting peace.
